The Entire Universe as a Knowledge Design

Next book to check out: Design and Truth by Robert Grudin.

There is not doubt that a philosopher and thinker of liberty and determinism that Grudin has a lot to offer about truth, but what he has to say about design intrigues me. Yale University Press, who is the book publisher, writes, “‘If good design tells the truth,’ writes Robert Grudin in this path-breaking book on esthetics and authority, ‘poor design  tells a lie,  a lie usually related . . . to the  getting or  abusing of power.’

He is probably not the first one who brings up the idea that good design is honest and truthful, Herman Miller design firm thought about 70 years ago. (Click here to read my post on Herman Miller exhibition in Everson Museum of Art) Yet, he maybe one of the first few to talk about design with such backgrounds. Or maybe design is universal after all?
